King of the Fruits – Mango and Its Species

If you want to write an article on fruits so your article would be useless without mangoes. You can wisely understand that why mangoes are kings of fruits. Mango is only the fruit which has wide range of types or species. I don’t know who named it King of Fruits. I think he rated it to excellent by the number of its varieties.

Furthermore, some great qualities of mango that makes it visible between other seasonal fruits. Its yellowish color makes it visible between colorful fruits but different species of mangoes have different colors from purple to orange, orange to red and red to brown. These colors represent nature of mango either it is sweet or it is sour. Mangoes are grown under the season of summer from April to September, but it is according to weather situation from different places of the world.

From pudding to milk shake, mangoes bring happiness to our life in summer season. You can find different food and beverages dishes on various resources. In Asian culture, people store it for a long time by using different spices on it. Common dishes are pudding, custard, desserts, juices, milk shakes, spices, pickles, mango powder, jams and marmalades.

Mango is fleshy stone fruit that’s why it is popular fruit for summer season. A research proves that every 2nd human of the world likes to eat mango. Mango is also favorite fruit for animals. Big and popular cultivators for mangoes are China, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Brazil and Indonesia. Although, China is great cultivator for mangoes but taste of mangoes from India and Pakistan can never be forgotten. These two countries also give some interesting names to the species of mangoes like ‘langrra’ and ‘chaunsa’ means ‘limp’ and ‘to suck’ respectively.

Mangoes belong from the family of Mangifera. Mangifera has 69 different species from which one is mango with name Mangifera Indica. Some common types or species of mangoes are:

Haden is type of mango with green, yellow and red color with mix texture. It is in oval to round shape.

Tommy or Atkins is Brazilian mango which has golden to greenish color with oblong shape.

Kent is a type of Mexican mango with green and red blush color and has yellow dots on it. It is also in oval shape.

Keitt has greenish skin with red color. It is very smooth, oval and juicy Mexican type of mango.

Francine is green to yellow colored mango with flattened oval shape commonly found in Haiti.

Ataulfo is yellow and buttery type of mango with flattened oval shape.

You can find 450 varieties of mangoes in South Asia. So, it cleared that varieties of mangoes in the world are uncountable or only can be assumed because every country have hundreds of types. Common types from my country are Langrra, Aman dasehri, Al-Phanso, Samr-e-bahisht, Fajri kalaan, Chaunsa, Anwar Ratol, Sindhrri, Banganpaali & neelam. You can enjoy this summer season by finding new varieties of mangoes.
