Doing Your Part To Keep San Jose Beautiful

Posted: October 25, 2011 3:23 am

The task of keeping San Jose beautiful actually falls on the shoulders of all of us. While laws and rules have been developed that help to keep litter in its place, and in general, to keep the city looking great, every San Jose resident and visitor alike has a duty to help beautify the city. This includes typical things, like putting trash in its place and keeping our personal yard spaces clean and orderly.

San Jose has taken great efforts to help residents do all they can. Beautification grants are offered. The ‘Keep San Jose Beautiful’ project will match grant support to nonprofit organizations, schools, neighborhood associations, and other organizations that want to help foster community pride. However, it should be noted that due to Federal and State Constitutions, the City is restricted in its ability to award grants for the improvement of church property and religious schools.

The eligibility requirements are quite simple: projects must be within the city limits, and they should be in a highly visible public area. The primary areas of interest include theme, cultural or educational gardens. Specific themes can include cultural heritage gardens, rose gardens and Victorian gardens. The goal is to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of San Jose through the planting and preservation of trees and other plants. This project is designed to promote conscientious stewardship of the city’s environment. Participants receive plants and needed materials in exchange for planting and maintenance efforts.

Take a close look at the spaces around you. Beautification grants can be used toward various types of landscaping projects. For instance, besides trees and plants, you can use the funding for containers, walkways, benches, plant boxes, tables, fountains, and even irrigation systems. In other words, the funding can be used for all phases of the landscaping project.

In the end, everyone involved with the ‘Keep San Jose Beautiful’ initiative wins. Even if you do not qualify for the grant funding, there are still lots of things you can do to help beautify the city.

One of the most basic ways to help is by simply cleaning up your own yard and environment. Start with the biggest eyesore. Gather any rubbish and yard waste that has collected over time. You can easily take care of the disposal process with services provided by the leading San Jose junk removal company, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. Professional haulers will load your rubbish and dispose of it appropriately. In fact, this company takes the trouble to recycle whatever it can and to donate any useable items to local charities. With that in mind, this is an excellent way to continue the theme of beautifying the city. When less waste ends up at landfills, our city‘s need for new landfill sites is decreased.

James Simpson owns a San Jose apartment complex. The small community is nestled on a busy street and as such, it is very visible to those that pass by. When Simpson decided to de-clutter and beautify the complex, he called on the junk removal San Jose has relied on for years. The experts from 1-800-GOT-JUNK? made the process easy.
