A wine glass is a stemmed glass that is used to taste and drink wine. It is made up of three parts: the bowl, the stem and the foot. Today there is an exception, the Riedel wine glass does not have a stem and it is meant for both the white and red wines. The base of the wine glass permits it to stand upright and the stem allows the wine drinker to hold the glass without the heat from the hands warming the wine or leaving fingerprints that will distract you from visually enjoying the wine. The bowl is important and it is here that one wine glass will differ from another. It must be tapered at the top and large enough at the bottom to allow the wine to be swirled allowing its aromas to be released.

The shape of the glass can influence the perception of the wine, hence there are different glasses for each kind of wine. There are four basic types of wines – red, white, sparkling, and dessert and corresponding wine glasses in which to drink each one. The shape concentrates the flavor and aroma of the wine to emphasize the characteristic of each. It is commonly believed that the shape of the glass allows the wine to be directed to the best area of the mouth that has the maximum taste buds on the tongue. The opening of the wine glasses is almost as wide as the bowl of the glass. The traditional and proper way to drink from a wine glass, especially when drinking white or chilled wine, is the hold the glass from the stem and avoid holding the bowl of the glass in the palm of the hand. This prevents the temperature of the wine from rising due to body heat.

A good quality wine glass will be made of lead crystals as it has a high refractory index. This changes the effect of light that passes through them. Also, lead crystals are heavier and rougher than glass and this allows the wine to breathe more easily and efficiently when it is swirled in the bowl of the wine glass. Wine glasses are not colored or frosted and this allows people to appreciate the color of the wine better. A red wine glass will be rounder and fuller with a larger opening so that you can dip your nose into the glass and get its aroma as the wine comes into contact with air it releases its aromas. This is because red wine has aromas and flavors that are more complex than white wine.

Pot racks are kitchen accessories that will allow the pots to be hung safely out of the way, but at the same time easily retrievable because the pots are all in one place. This rack can be fixed anywhere in the kitchen but the most likely and popular place is just above the stove or gas range.
